Moments to Cherish

This will be my spot to post beautiful moments that I have and witness with Nate and Lana. And I'll come back here to post moments as they occur. Of course I won't be able to keep up with all of them, but I'll post the ones that I can.

The best teachers to learn the precise meaning of
unconditional love from are your children.

3 Feb 07 - Nate came to my room to wake me up as he does every morning. He climbs into the bed and lies on Andre's side with his hands behind his head (just as Andre does) looking out our window.
Then we went to get Lana as we do each morning as she's babbling and playing in her crib. When we walked in I started singing our good morning song and Lana was just standing there smiling and dancing. Beautiful!

Nate runs to her and gives her a big hug, and in return Lana smiles, giggles and gives him a bigger hug followed by a sweet kiss. Just too perfect of a start to this morning.

Then when I put my computer on I was on one of my favorite websites where a lot of us post pics of our kids, Nate was looking at it with me as I was scrolling through and he yelled STOP and said "Ahhh... there's my beautiful Lana". Priceless!

One more for the day. I'm singing a lullaby to Lana and having a fun time watching her dance to my voice, when she stops, looks at her hand while concentrating and moving a few of her little fingers... Then she gets it, looks back at me and smiles... she signed "I LOVE YOU" (it's a difficult fine motor sign to do). This is her first time to correctly sign it, and it was spontaneously on her own, I hadn't signed it to her in about a week, because I've been singing and saying it to her instead of signing (we're working on oral speech this week). (If you don't know I'm teaching both Nate and Lana sign language, it's great for early communication! and they are doing wonderful with it, they both have about 25 or more signs so far.) Ok, so the best part of this "awe" moment was the look in Lana's eyes when she accomplished and meaningfully used the "I love you" sign was just lovely. If you could have seen the love she had in her eyes, you would have melted. Just too sweet!!!

7 Feb 07 - I've been really busy with organizing all of our closets lately, which can be quite time consuming. At the same time Nate's been just as busy, being my little helper. He has been sincerely sweet while helping with the greatest demeanor. In the middle of hanging shelves, decorating his room and organizing his room and closet, he said "Mama, I've gotta tell you something... I just love you... with all my heart!" . My sister in law, Sandra, taught him to say that a few months ago, but the way he expressed himself at that moment and as if he knew precisely what it meant to the fullest emotion. With an amazing purity in his way of loving, like I could do no wrong by him. At that moment and many moments before this he taught me the true meaning of unconditional love (from a kid's perspective).
